Shilpa and David’s engagement photos at Grim’s Dyke Hotel in London were done in one of the Uk’s sunniest days ever.
Everything just made sense together. It was so whimsical.
Join us now and enjoy London in the Summer!
Yes, to the pessimists out there who think London is just about the rain, sunny days happen too.
How I met Shilpa
Just like with Lexie and Aisha, I met Shilpa at Nova‘s the Nu Bride wedding show.
This Wedding Show was dedicated to wedding diversity and the modern millennial couple.
Likeminded vendors gathered in Camden to show that their products and services were directed to every bride and couple.
Shilpa was one of the vendors, just like me!
I remember we totally clicked for the three days we were there together. And very soon we started dreaming about the possibility of working to create inspiration for prospective couples.
It was like the universe was sending me in the direction of magical people once more.
A few months later, we worked on this styled shoot I produced in 2019 at the Barbican (also with Lexie!), and Shilpa designed the dress for my lovely bride.
And in a series of fortunate events, they got their dream venue…
Shilpa was going to have a very simple registry wedding in her local council on the 25th of July, but wanted to have the wedding breakfast at the Grim’s Dyke Hotel.
When they got there, they fell in love with the place and wondered if they could do the whole wedding there. I mean, how could you not? It’s beautiful!
The thing was, it was such short notice, and it would involve having to give a new notice, and ask for availability in this other council where the hotel is…
But believe it or not, the registrar was available for their ceremony!
This story didn’t end here though:
They needed to also give a new notice to their local council, and they had to have that appointment 28 days before the date of the wedding.
Shilpa and David called, and they took the LAST appointment for notice on the last possible date they could to mean they could get married at the venue of their dreams!
Shilpa still needed a photographer, and in her words, she wanted to be a Starling!
As a last thing to do, Shilpa called me on FaceTime and asked me if I could be her wedding photographer.
I felt so honoured, but my schedule was overflowing at such short notice.
I crossed all my fingers and toes, opened my diary, and the 25th of July was my ONLY available date!
We immediately made plans for me to join them soon for lunch at the Grim’s Dyke Hotel, and did this shoot you have here.
The day was just perfect! I finally met David in person and his siblings and partners. We had a lovely lunch al fresco, and I even was able to do a good walk in nature, as the hotel is so well located in Harrow.
We also used one of the rooms that on the day of the wedding became the photo booth area. The light was just to beautiful. That wallpaper sent me to the ninth cloud.
The rest you’ll have to stay tuned to see!
I’ll be posting their wedding here soon.
Have a great weekend!
Love,
Luisa.
